The Annual Sessions of College of Surgeon were held from 13th June to 15th June at Tilko Hotel, Jaffna. On 13th June night, at the inauguration ceremony, students from 33rd and 36th batch performed cultural events. This time Jeya Anna (Surgery Register) and students performed a non stop musical event with guitars and bongo and Prof Mohan De Silva Joined them in the middle. It was the memorable event. We thank Murali Anna for playing Bass and nicely balancing the sound setting. The keynote sessions and the technical sessions were held in the main campus of the University of Jaffna at Thirunelvely on 20-21 July 2012 More than 650 scholars across and the globe participated in the event. Four hundred and forty one research papers, which were submitted by researchers from Sri Lanka and abroad on various tracks nurturing the theme. Alter a rigorous process, 255 papers were accepted for presentation and were published as abstracts at JUICE 2012. After the invitation for the publication of the full papers from the abstracts presented, 46 have been accepted printed as full papers. We, the 33rd batch had a batch trip during the out of bounce period in view of final ear exam. The trip started at 2.30 pm on Saturday, 12th of October and ended on 15th morning. We visited Mihintale - Temple, Batch mates' home - Arunath, Uthatrika and Gayathri and Kitulgala Adventure Park. We had the dinner at Arunath's home at vavuniya that night. On 12th Oct at around 10 pm, we climbed the Mihintale Rock and visited the Buddhist Temple. We traveled overnight and On 13th morning we reached utharika's home in Ratnapura at around 7.30am. We had a bath in a river nearby and had the breakfast there. We left Utherika's home at about 10.3oam. We reached Kithulgala at around 5pm. On our way to kithulgala we saw a hanging bridge. We were welcomed by Ravi the chairmen of 'Rafting team 39' and we stayed there. We had the campfire that night. Next morning, on 14th of October, after having the breakfast, we had rafting and sliding in the river at two different places. We had the lunch in a shop at around 3pm and 3pm and traveled back to Jaffna. We also visited University of Peradeniya and some friends there. On the way we visited Gayathri's home at vavuniya and had tea there at about 2am of 15th of October. We reached jaffna at about 6.30am. We thank the families of Arunath, Utharika and Gayathri for their kind hospitality and Probothini's Brother for helping us. We are grateful to our Dean Dr. S. Balakumar and Assit. Registrar for giving permission to use Faculty bus and we thank the driver and the helper for their support. We specially thank Mr. P. Tishanthan, our senior (30th batch) also an assistant lecturer for accompanying us. The cultural programme of Jaffna Medical Association during the Annual sessions was held on 28th of September 2013 at HNB Tower. We, Students from 33rd batch and other batches performed a Dance, Musical event & songs and Dramma-"கலகலக்கும் காவோலைகள்"
Students from 33rd batch participated in the Clinical Symposium in Primary Health Care held on 8th September 2013 at Conference Hall, Institute of Family Medicine. This was organized by Department of Community & Family Medicine, University of Jaffna with collaboration of Jaffna Medical Association, Institute of Family Medicine - Jaffna, Vaccine forum of Sri Lanka and Primary Care Diabetic and Respiratory groups Sri Lanka.
